2020 Wi-Fly Digital Inclusion Grant Program Application

Mobile Beacon wants to put the internet into the hands of organizations creating change. We believe community anchor institutions play an essential role in making their communities more digitally-inclusive, and we want to empower you with the resources you need to make that happen. You know the members of your community best, so our new Wi-Fly Lending Launch Kit will give you the tools you need to harness the power of the internet and get it into the hands of those who need it the most.

If you’re ready to join our outstanding crew and create a digital inclusion program in your community that will really soar, apply below.

What do you love about it? What challenges does it face? Where do people go to hang out, and how do they interact with each other? Paint a picture for us of what it’s like to live, struggle and thrive there.

What are the demographics of your community, such as the median income and education level? Are there specific groups within your community that you will focus on? If so, explain them. Feel free to use real people or composite stories to illustrate a day in the life of one of the people you will reach. What are their hopes and dreams and what is holding them back from achieving them?

Tell us what how our Wi-Fly Lending Launch Kit will enable you to create a digital inclusion program in your community. What will it look like and what types of services you will offer to your target market? How will you set up these services? Will this compliment, enhance, and supplement any existing programs or services? How?

For example, some initiatives have enabled unemployed adults to access better jobs that are posted only online; others have provided a medical lifeline for the disabled; and still others have helped adults continue their education and secure better jobs. What will best serve the people in your community?

Pilot sites must implement a pre- and post-program survey to demonstrate their impact.* Explain the success metrics you will use to demonstrate program impact. What information will you collect on individuals prior to starting to use the laptops and the internet?
